DISCUSSION: How do you find/make reading time?

Hi, guys! School’s getting a bit crazy over here, so I haven’t had a lot of time to read. With school, sports, clubs, and all that stuff, it’s hard to find time to read. So, I’m going to share some tips for those of you who are missing out on reading!!

1 Put the phone down!

I should really take my own advice on this one. For those of you on bookstagram, you probably know how addicting it is, looking at pretty pictures of pretty books. Cell phones are addicting, trust me, I know. But if you’re super busy all the time, don’t waste your small amount of free time killing brain cells and staring at a tiny screen! Pick up that book and relax for the few minutes you would’ve spent on your phone, and you’ll free wayyy better.

2 Audiobooks are a gift from a higher power!

I’m not the biggest fan of audiobooks (I tried listening to a Percy Jackson one and the voice was so nasally it basically gave me hives) but they’re great when I’m doing chores and can’t hold a book in my hands while I clean my horses stall.

3 Who needs a lunch date when you have a book?

Don’t have anyone in your lunch period? Read a book while you eat! I’ve done it before, don’t worry about not socializing for one day, it probably won’t kill you. πŸ™‚ I’m more of an introvert, so I don’t mind being by myself and only having a book to keep me company. Just don’t get food on the book!

4 Carry a book at all times (if you don’t already)

You never know when you’ll have a few free minutes! I’m normally carrying a book and my phone, which I have audiobooks and ebooks on, so I’m always ready to read.

5 Read before you catch some z’s!

I think it’s been scientifically proven that looking at a screen before you go to sleep messes up your sleep cycle, so (again) put down the phone/close the computer and read! It’ll also make you more sleepy, so you’ll fall asleep faster.

Β I hope this helps those of you who are struggling to find time to read! Do you have any other tips for making time?

πŸ™‚ Julia
